臥病多日的關二爺將駕鶴西去，多年前備好的棺材卻因風吹日曬顯得很寒酸，家人為了體面地打發二爺上路，一致決定殺豬賣錢訂制上好的柏木重新造棺材，因近年濫砍亂伐柏木很難尋到，不得已，父親（鄒少春飾）偷偷砍樹，不料被人發現處以罰款。家中拮據交不起高額罰款，家人只好強迫二妹（余男飾）嫁給愿墊付罰金的章鎖（閆栗飾），二妹不愿做這樁人身交易，跑到城里飯店打工。同在城里打工的毛女（史小霞飾）為讓二妹日后有所依靠，介紹她與城里人喬連升（劉彥兵飾）認識，哪知喬腳踩幾支船，同時與其他女人不清不楚。失望至極的二妹重返家鄉，嫁給了心中厭惡的章鎖，她日后的生活還有希望嗎.....
